NEW YORK, Feb. 4, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- ALM, the leading provider of news and business information to the legal and real estate industries, today announced the launch of its Law.com mobile app, which consolidates legal news from across its entire network by practice area.

"This is the first time content from our entire network of award-winning journalists is available from one source, and organized by practice area," said Jeffrey S. Litvack, chief digital officer at ALM. "The app's visibly arresting format as a self-curated digital magazine allows users the ability to personalize their experience according to the news that matters to them."

The app is free to download, and customers can experience Law.com for themselves with a 30-day complimentary trial. The app is available for download at: at.law.com/download.

According to Litvack, additional features available in the app include the ability to set up alerts and filters to pull breaking news on a lawyer's clients, law firm or any keyword an attorney wishes to follow into their news stream. Additionally, all articles can be saved and collected into personalized briefcases for quick access later. The app also includes the ability to share stories via social networks and email.

The Law.com app offers coverage in the following practice areas: Appellate; Corporate and Securities; Intellectual Property; Labor & Employment; and Class Actions and Product Liability as well as access to all 18 ALM legal news publications. To enhance content coverage, the app also allows users to import RSS feeds from non-ALM trusted sources.

"The app was envisioned to be the vehicle for lawyers to browse and consume compelling legal content any place -- whether in their office, in the courtroom or on the go," said Litvack. "It opens to a customizable home page, which the reader fills with the content sources of their choice."

The launch of the Law.com app is the latest in a series of strategic moves made by ALM to aggressively transition into a "digital first" publisher. Last month, the company introduced redesigned websites for 18 of its legal publications nationwide. In 2013, ALM introduced mobile-optimized newsletters, new mobile websites, and a new digital membership offering for readers that provides free access to five news articles every 30 days and complimentary access to ALM's news alerts and newsletters.

The launch of the Law.com app was announced at a private event that took place on the eve of ALM's LegalTech New York tradeshow, the largest and most prestigious legal technology event in the world, which is taking place from Feb. 4-6, 2014, at The Hilton New York in midtown Manhattan.
