PITTSBURGH, Feb. 6, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- II‑VI Incorporated (Nasdaq:IIVI) announced today that its Board of Directors has authorized the Company to implement a share repurchase program for up to $20 million of its Common Stock. The repurchases may be made from time to time in the open market or in privately negotiated transactions as permitted by federal and state securities laws, including Rule 10b-18 of the Securities Exchange Act. The Company may suspend or discontinue this repurchase program at any time. Shares repurchased by the Company will be retained as treasury stock and will be available for general corporate purposes. The Company expects the repurchase of shares to at least partially offset the dilutive effect of the issuance of shares from the Company's current Omnibus Incentive Plan, and will finance the repurchases from cash-on-hand and amounts available under the Company's existing credit facility.
Francis J. Kramer, president and chief executive officer of II-VI Incorporated said, "The Board's decision to implement a new share repurchase program reflects its continued confidence in our long-term growth outlook and our commitment to delivering increased value to shareholders. At the same time, we remain focused on maintaining a solid balance sheet and financial position that enables us to invest in research and development and other growth-oriented opportunities."
