Singaporeans may not be known as an expressive bunch but it's a different story in the online sphere and especially when Valentine's Day rolls round.
According to a new report from online group-buying website Groupon, Singaporeans are most likely to say "I Love You" on social media platforms this year compared with four other major markets it surveyed – Australia, Japan, Hong Kong and Malaysia.

"A vast majority of respondents in Singapore, who intend to send their sweet Valentine a gift, also intend to express their undying love on social media," according to the report, which described Singaporeans as being the most "turned-on" this Valentine's Day.
"Almost seven out of ten Singapore respondents will choose to send a Whatsapp to their other halves, more so than any other APAC [Asia-Pacific] markets surveyed," it added.
The survey also said Singapore is a "leader" in online shopping during this period, with 38 percent of respondents expecting to buy Valentine gifts via their mobile devices and 37 percent purchasing presents on computers.
Beyond being expressive, Singaporeans appear to be "sentimental lovers," the survey said, with over half of the respondents describing Valentine's Day like a first date.
"Most [respondents] state that their main concerns include being unable to find a gift that is unique or different (45 percent) and purchasing a gift their other halves would not like (42 percent)," the report said.
Friday will also see a flood of Singapore couples exchanging wedding vows –243 couples will be tying the knot, the most ever on Valentine's Day and the highest for the country in five years, according to data from the Registry of Marriages released earlier this month.
