Fugitive whistleblower Edward Snowden will take part in a panel discussion on digital security at South by Southwest Interactive on Monday.

Snowden, who leaked information about the National Security Agency's massive data surveillance program and then subsequently sought asylum in Russia, will talk via Skype with Christopher Soghoian, technologist at the ACLU on how technology can be used to protect privacy.

The event, which starts at 12 p.m. EDT, is one of the more high-profile sessions at this year's SXSW, as Snowden's revelations opened the eyes of much of the world as to how vulnerable online data is to snooping.

The Texas Tribune will livestream the event.
