SAN DIEGO, March 11, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc. (Nasdaq:KTOS), a leading National Security Solutions provider, announced today that its Integral Systems Europe Limited (Kratos ISE UK) business group has been selected by TrustComm, Inc. to deliver its Starlight gateway satellite earth station for installation in Cyprus to service Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Australia.
The Kratos ISE UK-supplied gateway earth station will support TrustComm's Starlight™ solution, the company's mobile satellite service based on Thuraya L-band technology. The system to be delivered includes redundant antennas and RF equipment, as well as overall system Monitoring Control (M&C) provided by Kratos' Compass™ product, a leading device M&C solution for satellite and other communications networks. In addition, Kratos ISE UK will supply power calibration equipment to be engineered by Kratos ISE based on Monics™ selective power metering technology. Monics is the industry's leading carrier monitoring solution from SAT Corporation, a Kratos subsidiary.
Kratos ISE UK will build and test the system in its ground system integration facility near Newcastle upon Tyne, UK, prior to shipping it to the installation site, where Kratos will undertake the installation, integration and final testing. The contract includes an option for the provision of a second gateway system in the future.
"Large gateway earth stations have been a staple of our business for more than three decades," said Andrew Smith, President of Kratos ISE UK. "In particular we are one of the very few system integrators globally who have built Thuraya gateways in the past. We are pleased that TrustComm has selected us to provide key equipment for their important new service offering."
"Kratos ISE UK delivered a fully integrated proposal for the implementation of TrustComm's Starlight service from the Cyta teleport in Cyprus. Kratos' past experience in delivering very similar solutions to Thuraya along with the integration with the other Kratos product offerings in the total solution made the decision to use Kratos compelling," said Ian Canning, COO of TrustComm.
For more than 30 years, Kratos ISE UK has provided high-value satellite ground systems and solutions to the global satellite community for applications including satellite control, telecommunication gateways, broadcast uplink and VSAT hubs. The company's total turnkey project capability addresses a broad spectrum of customer requirements, from RF system upgrades to complete satellite ground segment infrastructure "green field" projects.
