The family of Ethan Couch, the teenager who fatally struck a disabled motorist and three good Samaritans last summer while driving drunk near Burleson, Texas, has settled lawsuits with some of the victims' families, according to a media report.
According to the Dallas Morning News website, the Couch family agreed to pay an undisclosed amount to the families of Breanna Mitchell and Hollie Boyles and her daughter Shelby.
Brian Jennings' family was not part of the settlement, the report said. The family of Sergio Molina, a passenger in Couch's car who was seriously injured, also did not join this settlement.
Couch attracted widespread media attention after he received a light sentence because his attorneys called a psychologist who testified Couch suffered from "affluenza," a condition brought on by his parents' wealth that stunted his development.
Couch pleaded guilty to intoxication manslaughter in juvenile court and was sentenced to probation and time in a rehabilitation facility.
