ExxonMobil: We'll disclose 'fracking' risks


ExxonMobil has agreed to disclose risks related to hydraulic fracturing—so-called "fracking"—in the latest victory for advocacy groups that also happen to be shareholders.

As explains in an analysis published Sunday, an investor group called As You Sow is trying to get companies like ExxonMobil to make changes by filing proposals that other shareholders then vote on.

The group is not alone in using such tactics, says: Among others that have employed the strategy are organizations with big money under management, such as the New York City pension funds.
