Democratic donors meeting to push country to the left

Big Democratic donors plan to huddle in Chicago next week to strategize on how to pull the country further to the left ahead of the crucial midterm elections in the fall and the presidential race in 2016, according to Politico.

The donors will include Tom Steyer and Jonathan Soros, whom some have characterized as the liberal equivalent of the Koch brothers.

The agenda for the Democratic Alliance conference includes panels on pushing liberal positions on issues such as income inequality, climate change, drug reform, gun control, abortion rights and the death penalty, Politico said.

The group, founded in 2005, has given upward of $500 million to liberal groups, Politico said.
