Where to find virtual reality: Inside a Norwegian tank

Fresh off of being bought by Facebook for $2 billion, virtual reality headset maker Oculus Rift is being put to some real-world use.


Escapist Magazine reports that the Norwegian army will be using the technology to help its tank drivers get a 360 degree view of their surroundings without opening the tank's hatch.

The report says that eye strain from the headset prevents the army from using the product for long periods, but noted that it may be used in combat situations.

That's assuming the famously peaceful Scandinavian state ever gets into a shooting war with one of its neighbors.
