All three stores in the segment have been opened for both periods, so same store sales for the month and year to date were the same as the segment's sales.
Chief Executive Officer and President, Jon Thompson, commented, "We have started our second quarter with stable sales coming from our North American stores. Our international stores struggled this month with two of the three stores reporting sales losses. In both cases, the stores were up against large comps from last year due to some one-time sales that they were not able to anniversary this year. We expect their sales to come back in line as we move through the quarter."
Shannon L. Greene, Chief Financial Officer added, "Sales from our annual open house held in April – a company-wide two-day event – were $1.5 million this year, matching that of last year's event. Further, we were able to achieve those sales without significant discounting so that margins remain solid."
