McPhy Energy : supplier of a hydrogen generator for HTEC refuelling station in California

La Motte-Fanjas, France, May 12, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- McPhy Energy, specialized in hydrogen production and storage equipment for industry and energy markets, is part of a consortium led by HTEC Hydrogen Technology & Energy Corporations, a leading developer of hydrogen fuelling infrastructure based in Vancouver, Canada, that received a Notice of Proposed Award ("NOPA") from the California Energy Commission ("CEC") for US$2,125,000 to supply a public hydrogen refuelling station in Woodside, California.

The NOPA from the CEC comes as part of PON 13-607, the second solicitation in a 10 year, US$200 million programme to deploy refuelling stations across California to support the roll out of zero emission hydrogen vehicles.

McPhy Energy will collaborate in the development of the HTEC refuelling station by providing an electrolyzer which will produce green hydrogen fuel using renewable electricity. The station, which will incorporate Powertech's innovative station and dispenser design, is planned to be operational at the end of the summer next year. It will be capable of fuelling over 25 hydrogen vehicles per day and easily expand as demand grows. Fills will take 3-5 minutes to provide the cars enough fuel to travel over 300 miles (480 kms).

Woodside is a small community between San Francisco and Silicon Valley best known for being the home of Steve Jobs, Larry Ellison and other tech icons, and a target community for Toyota, Hyundai,Daimlerand Honda for early adopters of hydrogen and fuel cell powered electric vehicles they have started to promote into mainstream markets.

The HTEC consortium also includes Powertech Labs and Sacre-Davey Engineering from British Columbia, Canada and Boyd Hydrogen, West Coast Cryogenic Services, Owens Electric and Solar of California, USA.
