COSTA MESA, Calif., May 15, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Morgan Drexen Integrated Systems, an Orange County California leading provider of software and support services to businesses nationwide, (http://www.morgandrexen.com), has announced that its company employees will be raising money to support those who have lost their homes in this week's California Wildfires in San Diego County.
The employees of Morgan Drexen will use their monthly fundraising event known company-wide as "Denim Day" to help those who have lost their homes and belongings in the 9 wildfires that have burned thousands of acres in neighboring San Diego.
"This week has been unprecedented," said Dina Iglesias, Morgan Drexen's Manager of Human Resources. "It's unimaginable that one area of California could be hit by 9 simultaneous wildfires. Rather than just watch what's happening on the news, we want to help in any way we can."
The wildfires, which began during record heat and Santa Ana winds on Tuesday have charred thousands of acres in San Diego County and have destroyed dozens of homes and businesses. Nearly 1,000 firefighters from numerous areas of state are battling the fires and have warned all of Southern California that it could be a very difficult year ahead for fire danger.
"This is a great opportunity for us to show how any business or organization can quickly come together and help people who are losing their homes," said Morgan Drexen CEO, Walter Ledda. "Disaster can strike anywhere, and when it does, our employees will help in any way they can, just as they did by raising money for those hit hard by the typhoon in the Philippines this past fall."
For more than 6 years, Morgan Drexen has used its "Denim Day" monthly fundraiser to help those in need and has made it a point to support institutions like the March of Dimes, American Red Cross, UNICEF, and Children's Hospital of Orange County as a way of giving back to the community.
