WILMINGTON, Del., May 19, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- InterDigital, Inc. (Nasdaq:IDCC), a wireless research and development company, today announced that an experienced government relations professional, Robert Stien, is joining the company in the newly created position of Vice President, Government Relations and Regulatory Affairs. Reporting to Jannie K. Lau, InterDigital's Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary, Stien will establish a company office in Washington, DC, and direct a comprehensive government relations, public policy and regulatory affairs strategy for the company.
Stien joins InterDigital with fifteen years of experience in law, government and the telecommunications and technology industries. Most recently, he served as Vice President and General Counsel for Artemis Strategies, advising Fortune® 500 companies on government relations and strategic communications. Prior to Artemis, Stien was Director of Congressional Affairs for SAP America, where he worked closely with senior executives and government officials to address U.S. policies and regulations of interest to SAP and developed relationships with key industry associations and coalitions.
From 2001 to 2005, Stien served as a counsel to Rep. Lee Terry (R-NE), a senior member of the powerful House Energy and Commerce Committee, where he gained extensive experience in the workings of government and in key policy issues.
