Russia has called an emergency meeting of the U.N. Security Council to introduce a resolution calling for an immediate cease-fire in Ukraine.
Russia holds the Security Council presidency in June and Russia's U.N. Mission said the meeting will take place at 4 p.m. EDT (2000 GMT) on Monday.
The mission said the resolution will also call for an immediate start of negotiations to end the violence.
For weeks, Russian-speaking eastern Ukraine has been the scene of deadly clashes between government troops and pro-Russian insurgents.
