MONTGOMERY, Ala., June 18, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Alabama Nursing Home Association and its member facilities are keeping their residents and families satisfied and engaged at a rate that exceeds the national average, according to a recently released 2013 data analysis report by National Research Corporation using data from My InnerView performance measurement products.
The nursing home association and its members embarked on a journey nine years ago to improve customer satisfaction and provide residents, families, and employees an outlet to give their perspective and feedback of skilled nursing care centers. The numbers have been steadily improving since partnering with National Research to field surveys using My InnerView products—and have now reached new heights.
"National Research is honored to work with such outstanding organizations who truly understand how important it is to make a difference and provide the best care for their residents and families in Alabama," said Mary Oakes, senior vice president of post-acute for National Research. "The Alabama Nursing Home Association gets it—their improvement efforts and all the work they do is coming to fruition and the results are well-deserved. Alabama is also setting a new benchmark for other states to provide the same quality of care our seniors deserve."
Alabama Nursing Home Association President Frank Brown credited their achievements to their commitment to do what's right every day. "Our number one priority is keeping our state's elderly population healthy, engaged, and safe. We are thankful this data supports the fact that we are providing an environment that engages employees to provide high quality healthcare that residents can thrive in and families can feel good about."
In 2013, 91 percent of residents gave an overall rating of excellent or good, and 92 percent said they would recommend their facility to others. In addition, the rating of "excellent" versus "good" has continued to increase over the years.
Ninety-percent of families have stated they were satisfied and willing to recommend their loved one's facility to others. The family scores also improved in all four topical domains of the survey, including 21 of the 24 items.
