CVS Caremark, the largest pharmacy innovation company in the U.S., has deep roots in Rhode Island.

More than 50 years ago, brothers Stanley and Sidney Goldstein founded CVS in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, a small city located along the Massachusetts border. Today, CVS Caremark has grown to become a Fortune 100 company (ranked 12), with more than 7,600 CVS/pharmacy stores serving 5 million customers every day, over 850 MinuteClinics and more than 64 million pharmacy benefit management (PBM) plan members.

As one of Rhode Island's largest employers, with roughly 7,000 employees in the state, our company is committed to local workforce development and job growth. We are proud supporters of many local nonprofit organizations and have developed long-standing partnerships with area colleges, universities and job-training organizations that are helping to support community health-care needs and cultivate talent that will drive Rhode Island's economy in the years ahead.

As our company grows, we will continue to contribute to the state's economy through our direct operations, and indirectly from the industries that support our business and our philanthropic support of the thousands of nonprofits across the state.

Admittedly, the state has more work to do to stabilize its economy after years of recession and high unemployment. CVS Caremark has shared insights and expertise with Rhode Island leaders on ways to help strengthen the state's business climate. We are committed to making Rhode Island an even better place for people to live and work—and to do business.
