One of Florida's most popular craft brewers is setting sail.
Starting this week, Tampa-based Cigar City Brewing will have two of its brews available on Carnival Cruise Line ships. In what is being billed "the first partnership of this magnitude between a craft brewery and a major cruise line," Cigar City's Florida Cracker Belgian-Style White Ale and Invasion Pale Ale will be offered on Carnival ships sailing from Florida ports. The deal makes Cigar City beers exclusive to Carnival Cruise Lines.
"Carnival continues to seek high-quality brands to enhance our guests' experience, and Cigar City Brewing has been rated among the top craft breweries in the world," Eddie Allen, Carnival's vice president of beverage operations, said in a statement.
Carnival has 13 Florida-based ships sailing from five Florida ports on three-to-eight-day itineraries to the Caribbean, Mexico and The Bahamas. Those routes carry an estimated 2 million guests each year combined.
Carnival already offers its own private-label draught beer, ThirstyFrog Red, which is available throughout its fleet.
