Next iPhone to offer bigger screens: WSJ

Apple is planning on launching the latest version of its iPhone, commonly referred to as the iPhone 6, with a significantly larger screen, going head to head with other smartphone makers such as Samsung, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The California-based company is asking suppliers to make between 70 million and 80 million units combined of two large-screen iPhones with 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch displays by the end of the year, sources told the paper.

Samsung has seen increased demand for larger-screen smartphones. The firm started offering a 4.8-inch display in its Samsung Galaxy S models in 2012, larger than the display on the Apple iPhone 5S and 5C, which measures at 4-inches diagonally.
