Stafford, VA, Aug. 5, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Acolyst | FalconStor Federal, a leading government data storage and IT solutions group, is proud to announce its sponsorship of the 2014 Audi Best Buddies Challenge in Washington D.C. on October 18, 2014. More than 1,500 people are expected to participate in the Challenge - a charity walk, run and ride to benefit Best Buddies International, a nonprofit dedicated to creating opportunities for friendship, employment and leadership training for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
"I will never forget the Hallmark Hall of Fame movie Front of the Class, based on the true story written by Brad Cohen about his struggle with and triumph over Tourette syndrome. I was overwhelmed by how difficult it can be for parents supporting children with disabilities through the many transitions in their lives. Things we take for granted, from being a student, to finding a job and becoming independent, can be so much harder for those with disabilities," explains Acolyst Vice President and Challenge Team Captain, Valeh Nazemoff. "After a business trip, I saw a sign for Best Buddies upon my arrival at Dulles International Airport. I knew I had to get involved and help support this wonderful organization. The Acolyst | FalconStor Federal Team is proud to have donated $5,000 to this empowering cause and is committed to raising much more with the help of our amazing business partners and friends."
All participants in the Challenge (either cycling, running or walking) will experience a one-of-a-kind finish line, gourmet BBQ, professional massages, Friendship Races and a private concert at the National Mall. The Challenge features magnificent views of historic landmarks and participation of professional athletes and celebrities. You never know who will be riding or walking alongside you. Last year, long-time Best Buddies supporter Kevin Spacey rode on a tandem bike with a Best Buddies participant during one of the eagerly anticipated Friendship Races. The Challenge is open to individuals of all ages and abilities and is designed to showcase the Best Buddies mission in action.
"Anyone is welcome to join or support Team Acolyst | FalconStor," encourages Nazemoff. "The benefits of joining a team are many - not only will you give back, but you'll also enjoy the camaraderie that can only be formed by spending time cycling, running or walking together in support of Best Buddies. It is truly an incredible experience!"
