LANCASTER, Texas, Aug. 13, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- HyperCube, LLC, a subsidiary of West Corporation and a leading provider of local and national competitive tandem switching services to wireless, wireline, cable and VoIP carriers, today announced that its CTO, Doug Davis, has been elected to the SMS/800, Inc. Board of Directors to serve as the representative for the Small Responsible Organization ("RespOrg") category. RespOrg is the entity designated by customers to manage and administer their toll-free customer records in the Service Management System ("SMS").
"Doug brings over thirty years of extensive technical and business experience in the fast-evolving communications and technologies sectors," stated HyperCube's President, Ron Beaumont. "I cannot think of a more qualified individual to help guide SMS/800 from an entity that was until recently overseen by the Bell Operating Companies into one that is representative of SMS users."
SMS/800, Inc. oversees the SMS as a central registry for toll-free number availability and reservation status information. The SMS, which operates an operations and administrative support system used to create and maintain call processing records for toll-free telephone numbers, also contains customer records and routing instructions. In 2012, SMS/800, Inc. filed a proposal with the FCC to change its governance. HyperCube joined numerous others in the industry by filing in support of that SMS/800, Inc. effort to become a neutral administrator. The FCC granted key aspects of the proposal in 2013, setting in motion a process that led to this year's groundbreaking board election.
"I am honored to have been elected by the membership, and am committed to help make SMS/800, Inc. representative of all RespOrgs, including the numerous independent RespOrgs," stated Mr. Davis. "There's a lot of work to commence, and I am certain that great progress will be made with the support of the entire industry."
