School Specialty Rocks at KidzVuz Back-to-School Blogger Bash, Hosting a Supply Spree With Over 250 Mom Bloggers and Their Wired-in Kids

GREENVILLE, Wis., Aug. 14, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- On July 18, 2014 in the heart of New York City's midtown district, School Specialty (; @SchoolSpecialty), one of the nation's leading distributors of innovative and proprietary products, programs and services to the education marketplace, joined online-kid-review network KidzVuz (; @kidzvuz) for their annual KidzVuz Back-to-School Blogger Bash. Over 250 mom bloggers -- with more than 1M twitter followers combined -- joined their kids for an evening at Location 05 to get the latest scoop on Back-to-School tools and gear.

School Specialty joined a host of premier brands and organizations including Microsoft, Lands' End, WWE, LifeLock, the National PTA and Hasbro, for a night of interaction, social media and sampling. The evening event garnered media attention from leading outlets such as CNN, MommyTechMedia and New York Family Magazine, to name a few.

School Specialty's dynamic booth provided tons of fun for kids in attendance, including tries at a money-grab machine, where students could go inside to capture School Specialty bonus dollars which they later cashed in to collect school supplies. A towering school supply cake served as the centerpiece of a successful 'selfie' campaign, where mom bloggers and kids were tasked to take a selfie with the cake for a chance to win it. The winning blogger @MamasMission had this to say about the evening, "OMG the kids at my tots' school are going to be ecstatic! And thank you sooooo very much!!!"

Every child that visited the School Specialty booth was gifted a School Specialty lunch bag filled with back-to-school essentials, and given the opportunity to make a School Specialty lunch bag for a child in need via the evening's charity partner, The Children's Aid Society (, a New York-based non-profit that provides underprivileged kids a chance to succeed and thrive in targeted high-needs New York City neighborhoods.

Overall, School Specialty donated approximately $20,000 worth of school supplies to The Children's Aid Society including 4,824 pencils, 364 School Smart page markers, 400 boxes of School Smart crayons, 375 School Smart calculators, 120 boxes of rulers, 296 boxes of highlighters, 400 Apple Stress Balls, 328 Scotch glue sticks, 104 sketch pads, 150 measuring tapes, 200 Sportime odd bounder balls, 100 Sportime jump ropes, 200 Pentel oil pastel sets, 152 scratch boards, 75 Post-it dispensers, stopwatches, books, Nylyte balls, yoga mats, and more!
