OMA Reports an 11.1% Increase in August 2014 Passenger Traffic

MONTERREY, Mexico, Sept. 4, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Mexican airport operator Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro Norte, S.A.B. de C.V., known as OMA (Nasdaq:OMAB) (BMV:OMA), reports that terminal passenger traffic at its 13 airports increased 11.1% in August 2014, as compared to August 2013. Domestic traffic increased 10.9%, and international traffic increased 12.3%.

Of total August traffic, 98.4% was commercial aviation and 1.6% was general aviation.

Domestic traffic increased in ten airports in August. The most noteworthy increases were in Monterrey (+13.7%; +72,960 passengers) and San Luis Potosí (+88.3%; +12,430). Monterrey traffic increased principally on the Mexico City, Cancún, and Puerto Vallarta routes. San Luis Potosí traffic increased on the Mexico City, Cancún, Monterrey, and Tijuana routes. Traffic decreased most in Culiacán (-2.6%; -2,759 passengers), principally as a result of the cancellation by VivaAerobus in May 2014 of its Tijuana route. In late Augus, Interjet started flying the Culiacán-Tijuana route.

International traffic increased in nine airports in August. Traffic increased most significantly in Monterrey (+12.4%; +10,343 passengers), as a result of increased traffic on the Houston route.

The number of flight operations (takeoffs and landings) in August increased 9.8% as compared to the same month of last year. The number of domestic operations increased 9.3% and international operations increased 13.9%.
