A voice-activated assistant that controls smart-home devices

There are plenty of "smart" gadgets on the market, but one device is aiming to stand out from the rest by allowing users to control all their smart-home devices using their voice.

Ivee Sleek, a Wi-Fi voice-activated assistant for the home, can answer questions and obey commands. It can also control other Internet-connected devices such as the Nest and Belkin WeMo products, said Jonathon Nostrant, ivee's CEO and founder.

In order for the ivee Sleek to connect to those other smart-home devices, a user must use the online dashboard.

"Ivee will also send notifications to your smartphone if a user personalizes ivee's dashboard to do so," Nostrant said.

Users can also use to set alarms, sleep sounds, check the weather and stocks.

"Ivee sort of acts like Siri, making smartphones its biggest competitor," Nostrant added.

The ivee Sleek costs $199 and is available in retail stores such as Home Depot and Staples.
