GREENVILLE, S.C., Sept. 16, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- eRAD, a subsidiary of RadNet, Inc. (Nasdaq:RDNT), a leading provider of standards-based, web-centric radiology image and data management solutions, announced today that Madison Radiology Medical Group has implemented eRAD RIS with Speech Recognition.
Madison Radiology has served patients in Pasadena, Calif., for the last 33 years, and it consistently leverages new technology to best address the needs of that community. The practice implemented eRAD RIS to gain efficiency advantages and to benefit from incentive programs for Meaningful Use of electronic health records, as defined by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
Dr. Terry Becker, Medical Director of Madison Radiology, said, "We've been an eRAD PACS customer since 2001, almost since the inception of eRAD. Now with the availability of eRAD RIS, there are a number of options open to us—starting with integration with our eRAD PACS, voice recognition, the ability to fax reports directly and the ability to integrate into some of our referring physicians' EMRs."
With integrated Speech Recognition, Dr. Becker now has the option of dictating directly into the eRAD RIS reporting workflow. "If there is a routine normal exam that I'm prepared to release, this way I can immediately release it to the referring physician," he said. "That's an efficiency gain. Anything that slows a radiologist down in the least is going to get rejected."
Because eRAD RIS is certified for Meaningful Use, Madison Radiology will be eligible to receive incentive payments and can stay in front of federal requirements. "In reality Meaningful Use compliance is not going to be an option in the future, so that was an added benefit. We're going to start attestation right away," Dr. Becker said.
Madison Radiology has had a long-standing relationship with the Pasadena community—and with eRAD. "I've had a very good relationship with the technical support team. They've been very responsive, and I look forward to that continuing."
RAD technology helps Madison Radiology deliver timely, accurate reports to referring physicians and to streamline collaboration with those physicians, while also improving patient follow-up.
