FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Sept. 25, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- MEDL Mobile, Inc. (OTCQB:MEDL), a leading developer of mobile applications for the Apple iOS and Android platform and the developer of the Hang w/ live social video platform, has announced the release of Hang w/ 3.2 for Android.
The Hang w/ platform allows users to broadcast live streaming video via a mobile device to followers within the app, on Facebook, on Facebook fan pages, on the web, and on the broadcaster's own website or blog. Viewers of the live broadcast can chat with the broadcaster and with each other during the broadcast.
With this release the Android version is now matched feature for feature with the iOS version, which was released as a version 3.0 in July.
The full functionality of Hang w/ 3.2 for Android is as follows:
- Private Broadcasting – Now users can choose if their broadcasts will be public, public with private chat, or entirely private
- Discover – New section of curated content
- Stream Live to Facebook - Broadcasts in the app can stream simultaneously to a Facebook page or Facebook fan page
- Guest User access
- Inbox – Notifications of new followers
- Free Unlimited Instant Messaging - Send and receive messages from other users within the app
- Mid-Broadcast Controls – View profiles, follow and block other users who chat during broadcast
- Improved archive functionality
- Improved broadcast functionality
- Full Screen Mode - view the broadcast with no interface overlay
The market reaction to Hang w/ 3.0 for iOS was strong both anecdotally and analytically, with average user sessions jumping from an average of 13 minutes per session to an average of nearly 17 minutes per session after the release.
"The challenges of building a live network on a fractionalized Android platform have kept the Android version falling behind the iOS version," said Andrew Maltin, CEO. "But our team buckled down and overcame some significant hurdles in order to release an Android version that's got the full functionality and polish of the iOS version. I'm excited to see how the users and the market will react to this major upgrade."
The Hang w/ application has enjoyed rapid growth, in part due to the fact that it has been embraced and adopted by many celebrities who themselves have large social media followings.
Broadcasters include 50 Cent, Ali Landry, Andre Drummond, Brooklyn Nets, Cheech and Chong, Claudia Jordan, Mark Ballas, Coco Crisp, Jake Ellenberger, Jamie Kennedy, Jared Leto, Josh Reddick, Julius Thomas, Kaskade, Larry the Cable Guy, Lucy Hale, Mike Metzger, Soulja Boy, Tony Orlando, Terrell Owens, Timbaland, UFC and Ultimate Poker.
Earlier this week, the company announced that they would begin generating revenue via advertising, and that a percentage of those revenues would be shared back with the content creators.
The company's patent-pending technology delivers a notification to a broadcaster's followers at the start of each broadcast and is built to deliver a short video ad to the viewer prior to each broadcast, and a rich-media ad unit after each broadcast. Thus, making each user video its own micro tv show - complete with sponsors.
The Hang w/ app is free and available for download on the Apple App Store and on Google Play by clicking www.hangwith.me. Users are encouraged to begin building their followings in anticipation of the full roll out of the User Monetization program which will be released via a "monetization" app update for iOS and Android on or prior to November 1, 2014.
