This sector is today's contrarian play

Utilities were one of the few sectors not fairing badly in Wednesday's sell-off, with 2 components hitting all-time highs (DTE and Xcel) and Southern Co hitting a new 52-week high.

Utilities have the added advantage of mostly offering rich dividend yields, which makes them a popular alternative to bonds.
