Unboxing the Nexus 9

There's a new tablet on the scene, as Monday marks the in-store release date for Wi-Fi versions of Google's Nexus 9.

Manufactured in partnership with Google and HTC, the Nexus 9 is a premium representation of both companies, matching the sleek brushed-metal sides of the body with the power of Google's new software release, Android 5.0 Lollipop.

At 0.31 inches (7.95mm) thin and 425g, the Nexus 9 boasts portability, without sacrificing quality. The 8.9-inch display screen has a 4:3 aspect ratio and a 2,048 by 1,536-pixel resolution.

The high-quality display, paired with front-facing stereo speakers and HTC's BoomSound technology, make media consumption a Nexus 9 strength. Its 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with LED flash and an f/2.4 aperture also means brighter, sharper photos.

Currently, the tablet is available with Wi-Fi at 16 GB of storage for $399 or 32 GB for $479. A built-in LTE data connection for the 32 GB version is available for preorder at $599.
