LONDON, Nov. 11, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- GovDelivery, the leading provider of cloud-based public sector communication solutions, today announced the availability of 'Measuring Both Halves,' a report on the measurement and evaluation of government communication in the context of channel shift. Unveiled at the GovDelivery Government Communications Conference in London, the research will be presented to an audience of hundreds of government employees and contractors.
According to GovDelivery Europe Director, Dave Worsell, "The inclusion of verifiable and insightful measurement and evaluation of communication activities may once have been a 'nice to have' but is increasingly a 'must have'. Conference attendees will learn about the three main issues facing users—linking offline behaviours with online activity, attributing impact, and how to place a financial value on that impact."
Also announced at today's conference were the UK central and local government recipients of GovDelivery's 2014 Outreach & Impact Awards, which the company presents to recognise organisations that use digital communications to drive public engagement and action, and to increase awareness of and promote mission, value and vision. "These agencies are examples of best practices connecting with and engaging more people in order to get them to act. They are an inspiration to us all," Worsell said.
The 2014 Outreach & Impact Award winners include:
UK Space Agency – Collaborator Award
Using the GovDelivery Network, the agency collaborated with other government organisations like NASA and ESA to generate explosive website traffic growth and drive monthly newsletter subscriptions and greater engagement. In the first two months alone, website visitors increased by more than 400 percent to more than 20,000, and newsletter subscribers grew by 770 percent. Total engagement expanded by more than 400,000 individuals based on increases in website traffic, social media engagement and email sign-ups.
Department of Energy and Climate Change – Designer Award
Delivery of the exceptionally well designed "DECC Review" drove subscriber engagement with 42 percent opens and click-throughs on average, as well as saving the department an estimated £5k in the next year. Outreach to websites of other agencies in the GovDelivery Network increased subscribers by 11 percent over the previous year, with the vast majority coming through other agencies.
Nottinghamshire County Council – Maximiser Award Winner
As a part of its initiative to raise citizen satisfaction, increase people who feel more informed about Council services, and save money, the Council moved from print to digital communications. An array of digital and offline tactics and the GovDelivery Network maximised cross-promotional outreach for each organisation participating in the Network and garnered 25,000 new subscribers for the Council.
Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency – Designer Award
To respond to a clear customer preference for email communications and save on print and postage costs, DVSA migrated its quarterly newspaper from print to digital delivery. Design best practices attract 71,000 subscribers that represent 85 percent of commercial vehicles on British roads. A satisfaction rating of 94 percent ensures that DVSA is keeping large vehicle fleet drivers and operators engaged and informed of changes to road safety regulations.
