MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Nov. 20, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- User generated clipping service provider Didja announced today the appointment of Jim Long to CEO. In this role, Jim is leading a talented and experienced team for the launch and user engagement strategy of Didja's first product launch, Clippit, a new mobile app that allows users to clip and share their favorite "live" TV moments. Long will also be responsible for further extending Didja's product offerings. Based in Mountain View, to date, Didja has raised $10 million in its seed-funding round.

He currently sits on the Boards of Pops Worldwide (a Vietnam based YouTube Multi-channel network), CrowdSpots (a Big Data Crowd-Sourcing company) and the Jeff Dulude Melanoma Foundation. He helped start Ruckus Wireless (RKUS, WiFi video leader), Chegg (CHGG, the first online college textbook rental service) and Aurora Algae (Algae for Nutrition & GreenDiesel).
Prior to his role as a venture capitalist, Long served as CEO and co-founder of RioPort, a leading pioneer digital music service provider. As CEO, Long helped broker music licensing deals with a number of online counterparts for such major conglomerates as MTV.com, Best-Buy.com, Yahoo, HP, Nike.com and Microsoft. Under Long, RioPort became the first internet company to license/resell digital songs from all five major labels. Considered the "father of streaming video," Long was also the CEO and founder of Starlight Networks, which pioneered video streaming and video multicasting powering digital video solutions for BloombergTV and Smith Barney, among many others.
Long began his career in software development and product marketing at Hewlett Packard, where he invented the world's first presentation graphics application (HP-Draw). He received a BS – Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, UC Berkeley and an MBA - Harvard University (with distinction).
