SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 21, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- San Francisco-based start-up Doorman has delivered more than 7,000 packages from 1,200 unique retailers to customers' doors, on demand, seven days a week until midnight, helping to solve the e-commerce "last mile" problem of missed deliveries, and rained on, or stolen packages.
In a video trending on YouTube this week, however, Doorman imagines utilizing the next wave of technology, package delivery by drone to further improve an exceptional customer experience. In the spoof, Doorman says they are introducing Doorman Blade, "the drone with a human touch" to beat larger competitors to the new technology.
Co-Founder and CTO Kapil Israni poses the thought: "When Amazon started publicly testing a drone delivery system last December, Doorman brought together some of the top engineering minds of the world to answer the question: How can we make autonomous package delivery a reality today?"
"At Doorman, creating an exceptional customer experience is, of course, our top priority," Co-Founder and CEO Zander Adell states. "But at our heart, we're a technology company. By combining drone technology with a human touch, Doorman Blade was born."
Mr. Adell was previously a Technical Director at Pixar, designing and coding for films. Mr Israni also founded Loqly and was an engineering consultant at IBM.
