Consumers ready to holiday shop: Jarden's founder

Americans' highest confidence in years about personal wealth and job security will boost sales on Black Friday and beyond, the founder of consumer products powerhouse Jarden told CNBC on Monday.

"Consumers are in a good a place as you can hope coming into the holiday season. You got two additional shopping days between Thanksgiving and Christmas" and lower gas prices, said Martin Franklin. Jarden's major brands, like Yankee Candle, Sunbeam, Mr. Coffee, and Crock-Pot, are popular gift items.

The trend of online cannibalizing sales from brick-and-mortar stores will continue, he said on "Squawk Box," but the holiday season is "going to be strong in all channels overall."

While consumers are feeling much better about the economy, Franklin said the rich, as usual, are going to be in a better position to spoil their loved ones, especially in this environment of asset inflation with the Federal Reserve yet to start raising interest rates.
