Pacific Sunwear beats Street 3Q forecasts

Pacific Sunwear of California on Wednesday reported a fiscal third-quarter loss of $469,000.

The Anaheim, California-based company said it had a loss of 1 cent per share. Losses, adjusted for non-recurring gains, were 3 cents per share.

The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 5 cents per share.

The teen clothing retailer posted revenue of $212.3 million in the period, which also topped Street forecasts. Analysts expected $206.6 million, according to Zacks.

For the current quarter ending in January, Pacific Sunwear expects its results to range from a loss of 17 cents per share to a loss of 12 cents per share.

The company said it expects revenue in the range of $218 million to $227 million for the fiscal fourth quarter.

In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, the company's shares hit $1.67. A year ago, they were trading at $2.84.
