Is this the world’s most expensive Christmas tree?

As we get closer to the big day, panicky shoppers become increasingly willing to shell out cash for that ideal gift, turkey or ornament. But would you be happy to hand over nearly $10,000 for a Christmas tree?

Spotted by offbeat news website BoingBoing, a vendor on Amazon.com is offering a pre-lit artificial pink Christmas tree for $9,993.50.

Boasting such features as "flame-retardant needles", "110 branch tips" and 70 pink bulbs, the tree will be shipped to you ready to assemble in "one piece for easy set-up."

Not even luxury department stores are charging as high a price for their artificial trees. Renowned U.K. store Harrods has cut the price of its artificial "Warm Snowy Alaskan Fir Christmas Tree" from £299 ($468) to £149, according to its website. Meanwhile in the U.S., Neiman Marcus is offering something to place around your $10,000 tree: a gold beaded Christmas tree skirt for $850.
