Midday movers: Macy's, Delta & more

Take a look at some of Wednesday's midday movers:

Retailers Nordstrom, Macy's and Kohl's surged on expectations of holiday sales in the post-Christmas season. Bed Bath & Beyond, Target and Amazon also gained.

Rising more than 1.5 percent, Home Depot also led gains on the Dow.

Airlines Southwest, United Continental, JetBlue, Alaska and Delta rose about 1 percent or more as the Dow Transports traded above its closing high and oil prices held to lows.

On the other end of companies affected by oil's decline, oil and gas drillers Diamond Offshore, Noble and Transocean fell about 2 percent or more.

The newly formed Walgreens Boots Alliance trading under the ticker 'WBA' gained slightly in its first day of trade on the Nasdaq.

Apple fell more than 1 percent following Tuesday's report from ABI Research that the iPhone maker is on track to post its first yearly decline in iPad sales since the device was introduced.
