INDIANAPOLIS, Jan. 8, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- USA Funds® announces the election of Michael D. King to its board of trustees. King has been with IBM for 30 years in various executive and management positions, including more than 20 years in education and learning. As IBM's vice president and general manager, global education industry, King oversees all facets of IBM's work with K-12 schools and higher education institutions, including the development of industry-specific solutions. IBM's portfolio in education includes consulting and IT services, analytics tools and other software, as well as cloud and high-performance computing.
He has held a variety of roles in the education industry, developing programs such as ThinkPad University, Insight at School and Learning Village.
King has served on various client advisory groups, such the California P16 Education Advisory Council, as well as industry associations, such as the Business Higher Education Forum, where he is a member of the executive committee. He also serves on the board of directors for both the IMS Global Learning Consortium and the Schools Interoperability Frameworks Association, standards organizations that foster industry collaboration to build more interoperable technology systems.
King received his master's degree in business administration from the University of California, Los Angeles and earned bachelor's degrees in physics and engineering from Kansas State University.

USA Funds also announced that Norman Lefstein, professor of law and dean emeritus of the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in Indianapolis, has completed a 13-year term on the USA Funds board of trustees. During that time, Lefstein chaired the board's compensation committee and served on its access and outreach and mission advancement and philanthropy committees.
