The end-of-December short interest represents 3.82 days average daily NASDAQ Global Market share volume for the reporting period, compared with 5.00 days for the prior reporting period.
Short interest in 649 securities on The NASDAQ Capital MarketSM totaled 550,521,773 shares at the end of the settlement date of December 31, 2014 compared with 580,190,147 shares in 645 securities for the previous reporting period. This represents 4.88 days average daily volume, compared with the previous reporting period's figure of 5.42.
In summary, short interest in all 2,923 NASDAQ® securities totaled 8,124,851,092 shares at the December 31, 2014 settlement date, compared with 2,910 issues and 8,441,763,186 shares at the end of the previous reporting period. This is 3.87 days average daily volume, compared with an average of 5.03 days for the previous reporting period.
