Fifteen furniture stores in Ohio and Kentucky are set to pay out $1.5 million to customers after Ohio State's Monday night victory in college football's first playoff championship.

Morris Home Furnishings offered to pay off customers of $1,999 or more made between Dec. 17 and 30 at select Ashley Furniture HomeStore and Better Sleep Shops if OSU became national champions, the New York Daily News reported.

The Buckeyes defeated Oregon on Monday 42–20, and more than 500 customers in Columbus, Cincinnati, Dayton and Florence, Ky. won free furniture.

All told, the deal will mean about $1.5 million gets returned to the customers, Rob Klaben, Morris's vice president of marketing and advertising, told ABC. Still, his company will not actually be fronting the bill: A third-party underwrote the promotion, he said.
