Remember emerging market turmoil in 2013? It could rear its ugly head again this year as many developing countries face elections and heightened political risk, according to data from risk consultancy Teneo Intelligence.
The table below summarizes Teneo's view of the economic and political trajectory for major emerging markets over the coming 12 months, highlighting the capacity of governments to implement reform policies necessary to mitigate the challenges of the coming year.
All the countries listed have some kind of election in 2015, from presidential or legislative polls, all of which could prompt social unrest, political risk or obstacles to structural reform.
The results include the ability of each country to respond with appropriate action to such turmoil. Risk ratings are relative to each country, and not comparative across all countries listed, Teneo said.
