Everyone at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show watched Miss P's talents unleash. From being at the top of the Empire State Building to starring for Broadway, the 4-year-old beagle from Canada has been tasting stardom since she won the 139th Best in Show title at Westminster.
Miss P's handler at the show, Will Alexander, said during a Squawk Box interview that Miss P's win was a result of breeding and training but she was mostly naturally gifted.
"I just had to bring it out of her. When I got her as a youngster, it just took time to give her that star presence. But she has it now," Alexander said.
David Frei, director of communications at Westminster Kennel Club, said another beagle who had won the canine competition in 2008 was Miss P's great uncle, Uno.
Miss P's success story doesn't quite end here. The highly athletic hound is already a Purina Pro Plan dog and once she has puppies, she will see more of the attention, Frei said. "We will find other things for her to do as America's dog for the next year."
