Inovalon and Walgreens Expand Relationship

BOWIE, Md., Feb. 24, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Inovalon (Nasdaq:INOV), a leading technology company providing advanced cloud-based data analytics and data-driven intervention platforms to the healthcare industry, has announced a multi-year expansion of its relationship with Walgreens, (Nasdaq:WBA), the nation's largest retail pharmacy chain. This expansion builds upon a unique offering within the health plan and retail clinic industry that leverages Inovalon's analysis of more than 9.2 billion medical events that empowers unparalleled analytic insights at the point of care, driving improved clinical and quality outcomes and financial performance.

"Over the past year, working together we have demonstrated the important role Healthcare Clinics can play in offering a convenient healthcare setting for member assessments," said Jeffrey Kang, M.D., Walgreens senior vice president of health and wellness services and solutions. "We have found that our nurse practitioners are more than three times more effective in their assessments and quality scores when utilizing Inovalon analytics. We're pleased to expand our relationship with Inovalon, and to continue driving the ongoing transformation of healthcare in the U.S."

As part of Inovalon's data-driven approach to improving healthcare, Healthcare Clinic at select Walgreens provides quality medical care including prevention and wellness services, treatment, and monitoring and management services. "We have been extremely impressed with Walgreens commitment to innovation and partnership, leading the expanding role of the retail clinic business model in utilizing technology to improve the way the healthcare system operates," said Keith Dunleavy, M.D., Inovalon's chief executive officer. Since early 2014, Walgreens and Inovalon have collaborated to offer two versions of member assessments at Healthcare Clinic locations. Both utilized Inovalon's cloud-based Electronic Patient Assessment Solution Suite (ePASS®) intervention support platform. While one version was fully integrated into Inovalon's advanced analytics platform, the other version allowed encounters to be performed within the platform unaided by analytics. With this expansion of the relationship, Walgreens will provide only analytically-driven patient assessments supported by ePASS®.
