Redknee and Interdigital to Demonstrate Wi-Fi Monetization at Mobile World Congress

WILMINGTON, Del., Feb. 24, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- InterDigital, Inc. (Nasdaq:IDCC), a mobile technology research and development company and solutions provider, and Redknee Solutions Inc. (TSX:RKN), a leading provider of real-time monetization and subscriber management software, announced an upcoming demonstration of Wi-Fi monetization use cases at this year's Mobile World Congress.

The two companies plan to demonstrate Wi-Fi monetization use cases that include location-based marketing with sponsored advertisement and single to multi-day Wi-Fi passes for premium Wi-Fi. The use cases are based on the companies' complete solution, which includes InterDigital's Smart Access Manager (SAM) and Redknee's Wi-Fi Monetization solution.

InterDigital's SAM is an intelligent network connectivity and traffic management application for Android and iOS devices. It provides subscribers an improved quality of experience (QoE) on cellular and Wi-Fi wireless networks based on real-time conditions, operator policies and user preferences. This enables mobile operators to retain subscribers with intelligent offload for congestion management and also provide upsell opportunities.

Redknee's Wi-Fi Monetization solution, powered by Redknee Unified, is a 3GPP ANDSF Offload Policy Management platform with a built-in location-based advertising engine. Deployable on-premise or in the cloud, it is designed to help operators generate additional revenue from their Wi-Fi investment while allowing the operator to control the user's individual offload experience. By looking at the relevant context such as the subscriber's profile, rate plan, device type, the operator can control when, which, and under what circumstances, the user has access to each hotspot. In addition, the operator can generate additional revenue through location-based advertising, sponsored data promotions, and subscriber analytics, further maximizing the value of their limited Wi-Fi assets.
