A Manhattan building has collapsed on West 57th Street between 11th and 12th avenues, right by the busy West Side Highway.

New York City authorities were calling the incident a "partial collapse," and local media images show it occurred at a low-rise building. Rescuers appeared to have accounted for everyone at the rubble-strewn site, according to official reports.

The building was a garage that was being taken down, according to NBC New York. Debris fell on a nearby bus, but no children were on board and the driver was not injured, the station reported.

New York police were responding to a 911 call reporting the incident. Search and rescue dogs were sent to the scene of the partial collapse, which occurred at 2:37 p.m. EST, a fire department spokesman told Reuters.

The Fire Department City of New York said one person has been removed from the building and is in serious condition. The FDNY said it had 30 firefighters on the scene.
