BARCELONA, Spain, March 2, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- MOBILE WORLD CONGRESS 2015 - InterDigital, Inc. (Nasdaq:IDCC), a mobile technology research and development company, announced that the company will be joining FierceWireless, the wireless industry's daily monitor, in the presentation of an executive luncheon at the 2015 Mobile World Congress. The luncheon – The Path to 5G: Defining the Next-Generation of Wireless Networks – will take place on March 3, 2015 during Mobile World Congress at the Fira Congress Hotel in Barcelona.
The first commercial deployments of 5G networks are predicted to begin in just five years, but what exactly comprises 5G is still a subject of considerable debate within the wireless R&D community. A number of companies and experts, including InterDigital, have already started to shape their vision of 5G. The Path to 5G: Defining the Next-Generation of Wireless Networks luncheon will provide an insider perspective into this less than clear transition from 4G to 5G.
At the event, FierceWireless Editor-in-Chief Sue Marek will lead a dynamic panel discussion that surrounds the role of emerging technologies, specific steps that need to be made and issues that operators will face in the deployment of 5G. InterDigital's Alan Carlton, Senior Director, InterDigital Labs group, and one of the company's lead resources in spearheading 5G definition and development, will be one of the industry executive panelists. The panel will also include Asha Keddy, VP Platform Engineering Group, Intel; Tom Keahtley, SVP, Wireless Network Architecture and Design, AT&T Services; Alex Jinsung Choi, EVP and Head of Corporate R&D Center, SK Telecom; Adam Koeppe, VP of Network Technology and Planning, Verizon Communications; and Eduardo Esteves, VP, Product Management, Qualcomm.
As a pioneer in mobile technology, InterDigital will also feature a Path to 5G area at the company's booth at Mobile World Congress. The Path to 5G will focus on InterDigital's vision for 5G, technologies and key areas of research and development that include 5G Standardization, Advanced Air Interfaces, Advanced Networks, Spectrum Sharing and Dynamic Spectrum Management, and Advanced Services Enabled by 5G Networks. InterDigital's work in two other crucial spaces of 5G, millimeter-wave backhaul and M2M/IoT, will also be present at the conference.
