Golden Eggs Become Fluffy Bunnies on Easter Sunday

CLEARWATER, Fla., March 18, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- On Easter Sunday, April 5, 2015, the Clearwater Community Volunteers (CCV) will host their 23rd Annual Ginormous Easter Egg Hunt where 25,000 eggs, including 250 golden eggs, will be strewn on the grounds of downtown Clearwater's Coachman Park for thousands of children to grab. Lucky hunters can turn in their golden finds to "Bunny Central" in exchange for big, fluffy Easter Bunnies.

Pam Ryan Anderson, the President of the Clearwater Community Volunteers noted, "We spend hundreds of happy hours gathering and laying the eggs for the thousands of families who visit us in the park each year but the hunt is over in minutes." Pam also noted that the group started out with a more modest 5,000 eggs back in 1993 but have grown to an annual hunt of 25,000 eggs and over 7,000 guests. Over 100,000 children and their parents have participated in CCV's hunt for prized eggs since 1993.

In addition to the main event, there are pony rides, a petting zoo, face painting, a gyroscope, rides on the "Bunny Express Train", entertainment, a giant inflatable slide and a bouncy house. The Easter Bunny and his Mrs. will also be around and a photographer will be on hand to take pictures of the bunnies with the children. The event is free except a small fee for food.

The Clearwater Community Volunteers (CCV), was established by parishioners of the Church of Scientology. CCV has raised tens of thousands of dollars, food and toys for family and children's charities such as The Shriner's Hospitals for Children, Inc., Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central and Northern Florida®, The Children's Home, Inc., the Boys & Girls Club, Everybody's Tabernacle's Homeless Emergency Project, and the victims of Hurricane Katrina. CCV also raises money to feed homeless and hungry children in Pinellas County through Public Defender Bob Dillinger's program, Nourish to Flourish and The Sheriff's Youth Ranch in Clearwater. CCV gets its inspiration from the precept "Love and Help Children", one of the 21 precepts found in The Way to Happiness - A Common Sense Guide to Better Living by L. Ron Hubbard.
