Burger King's upcoming flame-grilled burger perfume looks like an April Fool's joke. It smells like an April Fool's joke. But is it an April Fool's joke?
Burger King's not saying whether the grilled burger-scented cologne is real or not.
"We don't have anything to share at this time," said spokeswoman Alix Salyers in an email to CNBC.
Several media outlets are reporting the perfume, which its Japan unit plans to sell April 1, is not a hoax while others are advising to take the perfume with a grain of salt (and maybe some ketchup too).
The Associated Press claims the fragrance is not an April Fool's prank, adding the first of April is also "Whopper" burger day at the company. The Wall Street Journal is reporting a company spokeswoman confirmed the upcoming release is not just a joke.
Burger King Japan claims the fragrance will be available for just one day on April 1 for 5,000 yen.
Limited quantities will be available so those aspiring to smell fresh from the grill will have to hit the restaurant early.
