WASHINGTON, March 23, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) is proud to announce that David L. Cohen, Executive Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer of Comcast Corporation, will provide remarks at the organization's Gala, taking place during the USHCC Legislative Summit on March 26, 2015 in Washington, D.C. Each year, the Gala brings together business leaders and elected officials as the closing event of the USHCC's Legislative Summit - the organization's premier, bipartisan political advocacy event. Previous speakers have included CEO and Chairman of Goldman Sachs Lloyd Blankfein, Vice President Joe Biden, Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, Senator Rand Paul, and Senator John McCain.
"The USHCC is proud to be joined by David L. Cohen, a visionary leader who has helped transform Comcast and the entire communications industry. As our nation's largest cable and broadband provider, Comcast has supported the growth of our country's small businesses, and has demonstrated a commitment to closing the digital divide and expanding internet access for all Americans," said USHCC President & CEO Javier Palomarez. "We are happy to call Comcast a longtime partner of our association, and look forward to hearing David's thoughts on the ever-evolving landscape of the communication industry that is critical to the success of American enterprise."
As Executive Vice President of Comcast Corporation, David L. Cohen oversees the company's corporate communications, government, regulatory, public, and legal affairs, as well as corporate administration and community investment. In addition, Cohen serves as senior counselor to the CEO and as Comcast's Chief Diversity Officer, working to uphold the company's strategic objective to reflect the communities they serve. Prior to joining Comcast, Cohen served as Chief of Staff to former Philadelphia Mayor Ed Rendell, and played a leading role in working on the city's economic issues, all of which is chronicled in a Pulitzer Prize-winning book called, "A Prayer for the City."
"Comcast NBCUniversal Telemundo is proud of our longtime partnership with the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and honored to participate in the 2015 Legislative Gala honoring Congressman John Lewis and David Rubenstein. This year's Legislative Conference has brought a record number of Hispanic business enterprises and community leaders to Washington, D.C. to advocate for public policy and opportunity to benefit all Americans."
The USHCC has supported Comcast on the implementation of their nationally acclaimed Internet Essentials program, which provides low-income families with affordable internet services. The USHCC has supported the company's merger with Time Warner Cable, a move that will help expand Internet Essentials and provide Comcast and Time Warner customers with more advanced products and services for business and entertainment than ever before. Palomarez is also a member of Comcast's diversity advisory council.
