FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., March 25, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Hang w/, the powerful live-streaming social app, has deepened its integration with Facebook by adding a series of features and launching a new, in-line video player for the leader in social media.
The improved Facebook integration will better allow Hang w/ broadcasters to connect with their existing audiences by creating live content that can be viewed across multiple platforms as it's being streamed. When the live broadcast is completed, the video is also immediately viewable on-demand on Facebook within the player. A user does not need to have the Hang w/ application in order to view the live or archived broadcast via Facebook.
The broadcaster can also leverage cross-platform enabled #hashtags when customizing the title of their broadcast, aiding in discoverability. Hang w/ has the ability to simultaneously broadcast directly to 5 different platforms – Facebook, Twitter, through an embeddable web player, on hangwith.com, and via the Hang w/ App - which is available for iOS and for Android.
Additionally, Hang w/'s integration with the social giant is being expanded to include Automatic Activity Notifications for users who opt in, allowing them to seamlessly trigger notifications which include broadcasting, commenting, liking, and watching other broadcasts on the platform.
Additional enhancements to the application's Twitter experience are also in development - along with planned integration for several other popular social media platforms such as YouTube.
"Our goal is to build a community in which people share live streaming content wherever it is most important to them," said Andrew Maltin, Hang w/ CEO. "Clearly, Facebook is a major gathering place for our users and many of them have spent considerable efforts cultivating their Facebook communities. These enhancements demonstrate our commitment to creating a platform that serves the needs of our growing user base."
Hang w/ was released to the market in 2013 and has seen approximately 3 million live broadcasts since launch. The platform allows any user with an iPhone, iPad or Android device to stream live video to friends, fans and followers. Viewers can engage with the broadcaster using real-time chat within the application.
The Hang w/ system is built atop a sophisticated ad-serving platform that enables targeted pre- and post-roll advertising to surround the broadcast. Users can share in the revenue created by their own live streams. The ability to monetize social media has attracted attention and investment from the celebrity set - with 50 Cent, Timbaland, Larry the Cable Guy, Jared Leto and Terrell Owens counted among the platforms' shareholders and advisors.
