Through this public service, people have access to real-time updates of adoptable animals in thousands of shelters nationwide. They are able to search for particular types and breeds of animal, as well as filter by gender, age, color and disposition. Once a consumer finds a pet they would like to adopt, Overstock.com connects them with the correct shelter to begin the process.
Since the service's inception, over 35,000 consumers have connected to a shelter to inquire about the adoption process.
"We are thrilled with the success rate of this program," said Overstock.com President Stormy Simon. "There are many homeless pets and it's our pleasure to provide a service that finds them homes."
