NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Calif., April 2, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- IPC Healthcare, Inc. (Nasdaq:IPCM), a leading national acute hospitalist and post-acute provider organization, announced today that it has acquired Geriatrics Associates, PC, "GAPC," a post-acute practice group headquartered in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
GAPC is a multi-specialty group of family physicians, internists, physician assistants and nurse practitioners who provide primary care to residents in the long-term care and hospice settings.
R. Jeffrey Taylor, president and COO of IPC Healthcare, said, "This acquisition re-establishes IPC's presence in New Mexico and will serve as a platform for future growth. Dr. Middleton and his team are known as an organization of dedicated, compassionate providers whose role in the healthcare community is to function as the go-to clinicians for the long-term care population. We are excited that the group's founder, Dr. Middleton will stay with IPC as our Practice Group Leader."
"IPC truly understands both the opportunity and the importance of serving and providing quality care to the post-acute market and hospice setting. The opportunity to join an innovative and growing organization in which clinicians are engaged and empowered at a field level excites us as a business partner," said Henry Huson Middleton, III, M.D. "While we have operated successfully for more than 14 years, we believe that IPC's professional management, tools and resources will help the practice continue to grow and achieve the next level in today's increasingly demanding healthcare environment.
"We also believe that partnering with IPC will allow us to have a broader impact on improving geriatric care in New Mexico beyond what GAPC can do on its own," Dr. Middleton added.
The patient encounters for the practice are estimated at approximately 44,000 on a combined annualized basis.
