Baseball buys: Long-term, boring stocks that score

In honor of Major League Baseball's opening day on Sunday, CNBC Pro set out to find the stocks that mimic the conventional perception of a typical nine-inning game: long and boring.

But any true baseball fan will tell you, there's nothing better than remaining patient as your team pulls off a walk-off homer in the bottom of the ninth. The same goes for long-term, successful investing.

We will try to identify these long-term winners by taking the best picks from some of our favorite investors. CNBC Pro also ran a quantitative search based on the metrics these investors use to find long-term winners with low volatility.
